Welcome To ICHVE 2022

On behalf of the Conference Committee, I am honored to welcome you to attend the 2022 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE 2022), which is organized by Chongqing University, China and fully sponsored by IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society. ICHVE 2022 will be held in Chongqing, on September 25-29, 2022.

It should be highlighted that owing to the present continuing uncertainties about the world-wide travel and health situation in the 2nd half of 2022, the organizing of ICHVE 2022 was handed over from Technische Universität Berlin, Germany after a serious discussion and a subsequent agreement from the Steering Committee of ICHVEs, which was in view of the well-controlled COVID situation in China. To date, as we are running out of Greek letters to naming COVID-19 variants and becoming confident to win the war gaming with the virus, I hope that the variants’ ability to identify vulnerabilities of our immune system is also coming to an end. It is, for sure, great to meet in person without facemask and the fear of exposing ourselves to a health risk but instead shining ourselves again to the randomness of meeting people at conferences and various social events. 

ICHVE 2022, after seven successful conferences held in Chongqing, China (2008), New Orleans, USA (2010), Shanghai, China (2012), Poznan, Poland (2014), Chengdu, China (2016), Athens, Greece (2018) and Beijing, China (2020) has been established as reference point for the exchange of knowledge and experiences in High Voltage and Power Engineering. Considering the uncertainties about the world-wide travel and health situation in the 2nd half of 2022, ICHVE 2022 is tentatively, a hybrid format, i.e. in-person for attendees from China and virtual for friends from outside of China.

Chongqing, roughly the size of Austria, one of the four municipalities under the direct administration of the central government of the People's Republic of China. It is ranked as a Beta (global second-tier) city and is one of the top 100 cities in the world by scientific research outputs as tracked by the Nature Index, which is the home to several notable universities, including Chongqing University, Southwest University, etc.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Chongqing, China. I hope and strongly believe that ICHVE 2022 will be as successful as the previous editions, will definitely be a memorable experience for all of us and will give you fruitful time, new contacts and a nice stay in Chongqing.
